I don’t doubt they’re delicious, but I’d want to know whether heat destroys the toxin, if it’s mostly in the liver, etc before I’m eating it.
Like Larry says- I’ve never been that hungry yet.
After some quick reading it looks like the puffers here are not likely to be toxic, particularly if you don’t eat any guts/roe.

I’ve caught a lot of them at Bogue Inlet Pier in Emerald Isle,NC. Never eaten one though. I always gave them away.
