Fished straight out and just to the north in 50/50 tournament. Had a great crew on board to see an amazing sight.
Lines in around 300’ in some strong current. After a few slingers, we caught a glimpse of a big fish in the dredge. She faded off and came back to the squid teaser within seconds. The short right was a naked horse ballyhoo on a circle, which she whiffed at and missed.
Next everyone on board “Three J’s” got to see a 300lb blue lunge forward clear out of the water only 30’ behind the boat as she went after the dink on the left flat. Her body knocked it out of the clip, but no hook. May have been a blessing b/c it was a TLD 25.
She didn’t return.
We did however release a white marlin with a lady angler and catch a few more dolphin for dinner. Great day on the water and great tournament.
