Even as an UPV if you are running charters over 12hrs you must have a second licensed captain onboard, you are a commercial vessel carrying passngrs for hire. Even the commercial towing industry, which are UTV’s must carry a second Captain on runs over 12 hrs.

Running Stono Inlet as a licensed Capt on a charter is asking for trouble as the Stono has been deemed “un-navigable” by the Coast Guard. Check with your insurance company, I’ll bet even money you would not be covered.

That the vessel is documented means nothing to the charter business. It only means something to the bank.

If you had posted that your vessels have passed an OUPV inspection ( which is voluntary)then everyone would know you have all the required safety equipment you need.

Please understand guys, this 35’ welcraft is just a Friend of mines who is moving back to Charleston and wants to put his boat back to work. I personally own and run a separate charter boat a 29’ blackfin that is a state registered 6passenger charter boat. And is current with all safety guidelines and South Carolina charter specs. Also being that I completed a 4 month course at chapmans school of seamanship and not the once a weekend for three weeks captains course at sea school charleston, I feel I understand the coast guard regulations and CFR’s thoroughly.

Now my boat is kept at sunset, yes. I am fortunate enough that I’m able to fish my boat for fun, so I run the inlet only when I’m personally fishing with buddy’s from the area. And as we all know since we all run the same program that I pick my days carefully. And all of which have been successful days. If you all care so much the trips times are my working days due to my location I give the guests an hour of travel time on there trips. The same as all of you I enjoy being tipped for a fun day of fishing / sightseeing. I run a legit ship guys and like I said before I’m not tryin to step on toes here, I don’t do this full time I enjoy it as much as all of y’all.

Again… Not stepping on toes, let all help each other out. Signing up for this site hoping for some new fishing buddy’s and good info, not a bashing and ranting publicist. If that’s the case ill update Facebook, hah.

GotHookD–don’t sweat it. The cold weather and wind must have people hot & bothered…
