Blue Crabs

Headed down to for a week next Saturday. We usually don’t go to later in the year when the water is warmer. Thinking about setting a couple pots out. How is it this time of year and are they in deeper water? Thanks for the help!

Seems the larger ones are deeper …as in out in the bay…where we are running pots…we are seeing lots of small ones in the creeks with a few big mixed in…very few…but you should be able to round up enough to eat ;).

Going crabbing with daddy in the morning…we are running about 60 pots right now… Morning won’t come soon enough for me.

Dropped 2 of my pots in Thursday afternoon and was going to pull them Saturday but the rain and Sunday the wind was to bad checked them today and they were full of bait and two crabs one medium and one large in each pot. They were in a small creek off of the stono/kiawah river, so I would say they are still very slow. Plus a crabber told me he is getting between 3-5 bushels per run and he said he has over a 100 pots and usually gets 30-50 bushels in the summer.

we had about thirty pounds of ones and 20 bs of #2s today for 60 pots. most keepers we had in one pot was 4. they have to be 5 and 1/4 inchs to ship right now for ones. we did catch one that was right at a whopping 9 inchs!! monster crab…there were a good bit of little ones…hopefully they will grow fast! most pots were in 8-14 foot of water…and this was for a two day soak.
