Has anyone had any luck with there crab traps

The crabs are running. I caught 5 while fishing the other day and i walked my dogs at sunrise park and people were catching crabs. Ive also noyiced the crabbers droping pots in the creeks again, so probably a good idea to drop a pot in a creek.

Got tired of people stealing my crab pots so I gave up on the crabbing. It’s too bad because we loved crabbing.

I like to let em fatten up a wee bit,they’re kinda poor right now.

Are commercial crabbers allowed to drop pots in the same creek mouths every day and essentially not allow anyone else to crab that spot?

I don’t know that “allowed” is the right word. That’s like asking is a charter Captain “allowed” to fish the same spot everyday essentially not allowing anyone else to fish that spot. First one to the spot, gets the spot. Simple as that.

Is commercial crabbing season all year? If so, that pot could be re-baited all season and essentially no one would ever be allowed to legally crab that spot again.

Give me a few chicken necks and thighs a couple of baskets and a few strings and some dipnets. Then put the wife and grand babies to work. No way a crab pot will out catch that combo not to mention the fun.

This must be the best crab spot of all time.ha If it’s in the Cooper,I can probably fix things for you.But like Fred said,handlining is the best.Please don’t approach these crabbers as every one I know or knew had a short fuse.When I gigged a lot,my wife would dip them up as we went along.You should search for topics by colongo ,he had a great thread on here about evil crabbers.
