I was lucky enough to go out yesterday. School is pretty much over now. We pushed off at 315 due to the tide and headed south. We had lines in by 6 and the first dolphin in the box at 630. Had a few fire drills early on. We picked up and found the fleet scouring a weed line. It seemed like a lot of people ended up moving, but we stayed there the rest of the day and caught a few more nice dolphin. Had a nice, calm ride home. It was a great day overall.
12 dolphin total.
This was my first time seeing a blue mahi
He tried getting out of our wake once. Swung around to the other side and made it, barely.
I’m back and I’ve promised to behave this time.
I want to be like Fritz when I grow up.
Edisto-Fisher is my hero…internetly speaking.
My heart is in Antarctica.
Lone Ranger is a tool…man.
what setting did you have the xti on? I have one also and am going to the keyes at the end of may…
Wolfman
Wolfman, what kind of internet browser do you use?
In all of these pictures I was using Manual mode, but I’ve been told that for getting shots of fish, it’s best to use Av mode (aperture priorty) so that you can set your aperture in the 8-10 range. This way, you can get the whole fish in in focus.
The blue color of the fish, from what I’ve been told is because of the mood that it’s in, i.e. feeding, mating, i have a hook in my mouth, etc. One of the dolphin that we caught was completely white, except for a few spots when we gaffed it and 5 minutes later it was nothing but yellows and greens.
PS If anyone ever has any extra room on their boat, I’d love to go. I don’t have to fish. I can help mate a little bit and then take pictures…maybe even for free. I don’t have to touch a rod, seriously PM me for a #
It wasn’t the Ali-L. I wasn’t able to clearly see the name. In one of my pics, I can make out either Dan or Don as the first word in the name and then something starting with an M or W follows.
that is the Lunasea i am pretty sure. it looks like jeff at the helm and those are double spreader riggers too small to be the Ali-L. awesome pics richard
