First time posting on this site, I wanted to share(Brag) on our accomplishment on last Monday’s trip, Myself and Friend Tim Started at the 100/400, 8:00 am,160 ft first bait in the water 30 lb. Mahi, the Mahi bite was so hot the first couple hours I couldn’t get more then 3 lines in the water, once the action cooled we managed to get our full spread out, picking at the Mahi here and there, about 11 am the Barracuda bite turned on, 5 within 30 min. killing us so we ventured off to a little deeper water, 1245 Pm, 509 ft of water, Left short rigger pops Pink and white Islander Mistress on 30 foot Fluorocarbon, Penn 50, 50lb test on a Bass pro shop Ocean Master 30-80 rod, There he is My First Blue Marlin, I’ve caught many Sails but this was my First Marlin, Aprox 8’ not sure how much he would have weighted but he was a big fish. long story short we missed the 3 Pm bite and the 4 Pm bite, 2 hours 45 min later, leader to the rod tip twice but we could not lift the fish any closer, Finally we gave up, broke it off and watched the big dark shadow swim to the depths, what a thrill,I’ll never forget the numbers 076.7/400.1 Total for the day
