split tail, I don’t know you but since you appear to have only one id here unlike some others I will respond. We were the only boat at the entire Ross area when this guy pulled up. He anchored on us more than once and continued to talk trash. Some of our lines being right up to his boat. What I said is true including the fighting belt, gaffing minature cobia and his comment about this being his first cobia and he should be allowed to keep it anyway, is right as well. I don’t know them nor do I care. Frankly very few people would show that type of conduct to another boat especially with a 15 year old on board. I also did not see your boat there so someone may be telling you fibs.
My question to you, do you really support this type of crap?
FYI – There are TWO Split Tails on this board…
Split-Tail (2660 Sailfish)
Split Tail (27 Contender)
“bottum” fishing is a lot of fun… so is getting A’s in English class…
This is not a chawade…
We need total concentwation…
D.S.,
I don’t know what happended between you and “Reelin”. All I know is when I pulled up to the Ross on Tuesday your stearn was about 20ft off of his bow while sitting on anchor. It does not seem likely that you all could have ended up in that position if he anchored on top of you but I guess it could happen if the current/wind shifted. I guess I assumed you anchored on top of him due to the fact that you dropped anchor right on top of me a couple of weeks ago. Even my charter customer’s jaws hit the deck when you pulled up dirctly over where I had just dropped my anchor and dropped yours. I’m sure you remember, “Hey, Looks like we got the same numbers”.
Craker… its the typing!! Just hate a keyboard, would rather tell a secretary to do it while I’m out fish’n!!
Nauti, I think the starch in all those dress shirts is getting to you. Come on the fashion police aren’t a showing up at the Ross!!
Honestly, you think drifting across the entire wreck is going to stop everyone from anchoring? I asked you politely and showed you no attitude. Not even any since you been drifting on us the last few times as well. I have no problem with that. In fact I am curious how many rigs your loosing per trip dragging over it with weights.
If you need some bait, want to know how were doing, etc… just ask me and I will tell you. As you know I typically fish with either my 7 or 11 year old sons. This season we have caught 58 cobias and have kept 8, the rest were safely released or tagged.
See ya
It’s usually called bump trolling or slow trolling Dave, and when somebody anchors on top of me resulting in a lost anchor because I have no room to manuver to get it out it’s a good alternative. I seem to remember catching 8 (30lb to 50lb…only kept one) that day while you guys sat on the hook and watched. But who’s counting any way. Ohh wait a minute you are, with a grand total of 58. Gosh…that’s just swell! And next time I need bait or advice on where the bite is…well, you can bet you’ll be the first one I’ll call so keep that radio on, ok buddy!
boy jason seems this man has gotten under your skin buddy… you still gettin them out there…
David,
I saw your strange post about the Ross the other day…must have got deleted.
You werent the only boat. I counted 5 when I arrived and you were off Reelins stern. I find it hard to believe an experienced fisherman like himself would drop anchor on your bow.
And about the whole ordeal you made about him catching an undersized fish and then posting it all over the HH section is ridiculous. Did you measure the fish? Speaking from experience, before you go out of your way to intentionaly try and wreck someones reputation you should be sure 100%. I saw the fish on the board when he came in, along with a half dozen other fisherman, it was 41 inches to the fork.
JD, How have you been? Are you still looking at the 31 Cape Horn? I’ve been eyeing those pretty hard myself. A lot of boat for the money!! As far as the fishing goes two of my last three trips to the Ross have been relativley slow. Last good day was 8 grown brownies back around the 1st of July. As far as ol’ dave…I should not let a googan like that get under my skin, but it ticks me off when I hear him call somebody out for the exact crap he pulled on me just a few weeks earlier. But hey, I’m over that. He’s got a point though,It’s hell when the cast net gets caught up on the cuff links of those dress shirts that I wear. ■■■■ french cuffs!!!

“No tail like Split Tail…”
I have been good jason hope all is well with you too…i am still looking at the 31… i am not in a super rush… i would like to see what the 36 looks like also…going out tomorrow with al wester… trying some deep drops at the deli ledge if the weather works out… take care man…
Hope yall crush them like grapes JD. That ledge can be really good this time of year.
Time for me to pipe up…David, a lot of people heard about the Ross on Tuesday …Reelin gave you wide berth and three chances to hook up before they got tired of waiting and dropped their anchor…you dropped on top of them…the cobia was legal, and the language coming out of that kid’s mouth was unbelievable…nice parenting and fishing…my family has made a living off these waters for generations…try to show some class.
thats your story, I was there ! I requested that the fish be checked, thats all and thats fare! The guy freaked out and should have. None of this would have even happened if the guy hadn’t been such a … to us right off the bat.
One of you should tell us how to release a cobia after the gaffs hit it! That area is chuck full of hatchery fish.
The ross has been a tough spot for years when anchoring with many problems between boaters, move on!!!
I was there we were the first boat everyone said there were other boats out there yes there were but no one was there before us then those dumb pecker heads came up and anchored right up on us, a legal fish is a legal fish if they said it was legal ok but the next dumb… that anchors up that close to me i will have a paintball waiten for the side of there boat.
