Blues and sails 6-9 (Pics now)

Got the SS shot showing edge was at least 10 miles offshore of 380 hole and told crew we were gonna run until we found the edge. Partner Scott Bozeman(first trip of the year for him), Hamp Culler and son Hampton, Kyle Oulette and my 15 year old son “Big Game” James settled in after some lucky, hot bacon egg and cheese biscuits from WH. Ran 34 knots in a flat ocean and put lines in about 12 miles off 380 hole. Trolled offshore and first bite was right long, dropped back and whiffed, then shotgun blue and white islander went off. Nice blue put on a show for 30 secs then a 2+ hour tug -o-war battle with 14 year old Hampton Culler in chair. Got her boatside and she was still green! Released her after some video and photos. Deployed spread and got back on our spot and second bite of the day on the short green and yellow squitch was a grown one. Spooled our 50, and then we snapped a swivel from another 50 on the rod and just before tossing it in the water, the line came slack. Reeled up and had a broken line near the swivel. Deployed again and within the hour double sailfish bite and 15 year old Kyle Oulette landed his first Atlantic sailfish, Called Pole dancer out to our spot and they immediately hooked a double header dolphin - one was a stud!. We then put four dolphin in the box and rolled home at 35 knots. Awesome day with great friends and my son!

Nice. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Just got back from Aruba and see there were at least a couple fishable days here.

Okay, so i’m not the most experienced at billfishing, but i can hold my own for basic dolphin and king trolling. I’m sorry, but i have to ask: when reading your post, it sounded like you were about to throw a 50w rod/reel combo overboard and play tug of war with a marlin, winner keeps the 50w. Is that common in the world of billfishing?

Way to go Captain Mel !!!

Anytime Tailsup! sure there will be many days ahead when we will need to come to your spot!

millacad - probably not common, but that’s what we were planning on doing.

Thank you Capppem Al!!

Capt. Mel! Hampton and I had an awesome time! He has not come down to earth yet and is constantly looking at the pictures on his phone. Thank you again for a truly unforgettable day!!

Ha, that’s great, never heard of doing that before. That’s some dedication and disposable income right there! Looks like an epic day of fishing, congrats
