Check out some of the info I got by asking a similar question.
The north end of Bulls Island is nice. Generally not many folks there. It “can” be tricky to navigate there because the bay has some very shallow areas and the wind can stack up some wicked waves under the right conditions.
On busy weekends that I didn’t want to go to Capers Inlet I’d go north to the next inlet, Prices Inlet I believe it was called. Hardly ever saw anyone up there.
put in at Folly or Battery Island Ramp (Sol Legare) and head towards the Stono River side of Kiawah…typically a lot less crowded and the side beach is a pretty easy and safe place to park your boat with 2 anchors…I would say more family-friendly there…
Price inlet (between bulls and capers island) is great as well, but is NOT undiscovered anymore. Quite a few folks head that way, but generally more family friendly.
Prices Inlet offers two family friendly beaches, Bull Island to the north and Capers to the south. The sheltered beaches between the islands is great for kids. The north end of Bull Island is beautiful and less visited; however, it requires a great deal of care. The tide rips around the end of the island at an incredible speed and has removed more than one boat that was not properly secured. At least one adult that I know was swept away and spent 3 hours offshore… not by his choice. If you choose to go to Price’s or the North end of Bull, I would put in at Buck Hall. It has 3 very good ramps and is not a problem at low tide.
Hope some of this helps.
as i live in ocean isle, we only have The Ditch and a small barrier island (bird island) for family use,so bringing the big boat to Chas. was fantastic, my wife insists we “don’t leave home without it”,brought my Mako down a few times to fish, always left with the same conclusion…Charleston boaters are by far…the most experienced, helpful, courteous and friendly in the South. BooooYA!

We live in Columbia and used to go to Lake Wateree or Murray but, after one trip to the Charleston area, my wife and kids did not want to go to the lake anymore. The end result is that we drag the boat to the coast at least a couple of times per month. We are always on the lookout for a good place to beach it. We also occasionally go out of Little River so we are a little familiar with the area up that way.
Have fun and safe boating.
