Any info???
Yea, I was driving CFD Engine 15 on Coming St. today and us and Engine 8 from Huger St. got sent to the Mt. P pier for a boat on fire in the Cooper. 30 ft pleasure boat. Somehow there was a gasoline fire. All passangers got off safe, when we left the Sullivans Isl fire boat had it pretty much out. Coast Gaurds main concern was them filling it with water and it sinking in the channel, hahaa. Not realy sure why we were sent, I guess people see smoke and dont realize that fire engines can’t get to every fire. Remember if a boat is on fire and it is 400yds from shore tell dispatch they need to send the fire boats, not engines. A lot of time wasted for us to get through Ravenel bridge 5pm traffic from Downtown only to realize 20 min later that only a boat can reach it. Not sure were Mt p’s dept did not go, instead of us?

Why would you go to the Mt. Pleasant Pier for a fire in the Cooper River?

Correction, Wando River, either way thats my point exactly. Why are City Engines being sent by dispatch to the Mt PLeasant pier for a fire that is clearly unmanagable from shore. Sounds like county needs to gather more intel and callers should offer up more unless of coarse you are under extreme duress.

Hmmmm seems like a good bit of ff’s on here wonder how much of us there are.
Looks like the boat sunk right off the end of the pier… Or close at least
Almost went down there this morning. That would have been a site!
2010 Sea Ray 370, caught fire, drifted, and sank in turning basin approx halfway between Chas Harbor Marina and the Chas Maritime Ctr. Makes getting the Carnival cruise ship due in at 4am this morning a little interesting.

JIHUNTFISH, blame dispatch, they ask enough questions seems as if they would have known they needed a fire boat
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Have a freighter get in there and turn the screws a few times and beat the chunks into splinters. Just hope the engine doesn’t take a chunk out of a blade.
