Boat cleaner

Just wondering what to use to clean stains off the inside of the boat. I have some oil stains on a hatch cover in my splash well and can’t get it out for the life of me. I think that the hatch is made out of plastic but I am not sure. I also have some stains on my “splatter” finish and would like to get that off as well. Thanks for any help. On a different note, I used to hull cleaner from Wal-Mart and that stuff worked like a charm.

Anything with oxalic acid in it will get the stain out…

Ace Hardware sells it under the name DAP Wood Bleach - it’s in a crystal form - about $7. Just dilute it and apply. Wear gloves - it’s a bleach.

Also might try Barkeepers Friend (has oxalic acid) and a stiff brush. Can use on fiberglass, metal, plastic and is about as inexpensive as you can get when it comes to cleaners for boats.

That is what I use on stains, and it works great! Only around $2 at Wal-mart and Lowe’s. I’m sure they sell it at other places as well.
