Boat Cleaner

Any recommendations for boat soap and anything to help remove herring scales (other than the fingernail). Looking for a low sudsing product and ideas for the scales? Thanks

Herring scales. …welcome to the world of striper fishing. If you dont get them off AS SOON they get on the boat/rods/reels etc they are pretty much there to stay unless you use the finger nail. If your gonna fish for stripers and use herring just get used to them. As well as getting used to finding them in the weirdest places in your truck/house etc… I recently found one INSIDE of an ink pen that I use daily. …ha…

Mark, I have had good luck with 3 products for my boat cleaning. Starbrite Deck Cleaner with Teflon for the inside and flooring. Cleans pretty well without making the floor slippery. Starbrite Hull Cleaner for the outside really cuts stains and water lines off of the hull with minimal scrubbing. Wax the outside of the hull once or twice a year with any good boat wax. Wax the inside and floor with Woody Wax once or twice a year. It won’t make your floor as slick as regular wax, and is easier to apply. You just spray it on a brush and brush it over the floor, then rinse it. The wax keeps the scales and dirt from sticking as badly. Still, herring scales are another matter. Just think of them as decorative bling for your boat, kind of like rhinestones.

I have found them on my hands the next day even after scrubbing my hands.

Thanks for the input. Jon Boy I have gone to that same combination of products and they have worked well. I use the Nu Finish polymer on the hull after polishing. Will try the SB hull cleaner - the deck cleaner is great. Figured there was no miracle product for the scales. Thanks again
