Time to replace my boat cover. I purchased it in the Spring of 2008 from T Top Boat Covers. Love the cover and ease of use, just a little disappointed in the material only lasting 5 years before rotting and tearing. I was under the impression that they recorded a pattern when they made it so it could be reproduced at a lesser expense, but it appears that did not happen. This cover ended up costing me around $240/year. Not sure if that is good, bad or normal.
I understand the ones they have now are a better material that has a longer warranty, 5 years, and will probably last 7 to 8 years, if not longer.
The boat is a 2001 Proline, 26 Sport. I would think someone out there has a pattern for that boat. May have to look around in Florida where they used to make the Prolines.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and recommendations.
Well to be fair I have never had a boat longer than 3 years but I had 2 different boats with T-top boat covers and they never had an issue. Kevin is a pretty good guy I hope he would be willing to help you out. They are pretty pricy.
I saw some boats with custom fitted shrink wrap covers down in the Fl. Keys a couple of yrs. ago and wished that I had one for my boat. After some web searches I came up with this company. http://www.transhield-usa.com/transhield-videos.html#. I have shown the video to several boat dealers in the Bluffton/ Hilton Head area hoping that someone would become a dealer for this type of boat cover. I"d do it myself but I’m too old and poor to start a new business. I think that a lot of guys that store their boats in the yard would jump on this type of boat cover. I would!
Did you maintain the cover? They are just like everything else for your boat and need maintenance. i take mine to the laundromat once a year and put it in a big industrial machine and wash it. T-top cover still looks good but am only on 7 years.
I bought a console and front seat cover for $50.I did not like the draw string it came with.I bought a large bunge cord and replaced the draw string it came with. Now it holds perfect.Took 20 minutes to change from string to bunge.Works perfect and stays put.

then coat it with sunbrella protectant, which aint cheap.
I’d rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave.
Will give Chip Peagler a call soon. Thanks for the contact info on him. The cover is not ripped bad, but the material is definitely tearing very easy. Geechee Bear, Kevin at T-Top said to wash with mild soap as needed and that was all the maintenance you had to do. It never really looked as though it needed washed. IMO, the cover was in the sun almost 100% of the day and that is probably what cooked it. I do keep it in a warehouse for about 4-5 months in the winter. That should have helped. The Carver cover looks like a good option, but with the ray-dome on top of the t-top, it may be a little more of a pain to get the cover over that, the outriggers, etc. T-Top’s design is perfect. I just need it to last much longer for the price. The replacement will be $1,250 plus tax, ouch! I really appreciate the ■■■■■■■■ and recommendations. They are very helpful.
