Question for the group. I have a 23’ CC that I just dropped off at a guy’s house to have detailed. This guy was recommended by someone I know, and is an independent contractor; basically washes cars and boats in his yard. When I dropped the boat off and told him when I’d pick it up, I asked what he was going to charge me? His answer was whatever I think is fair. I tried to get a ballpark, but he wouldn’t commit. So, if I had a professional detail crew do it, it would be $500+, this guy did an older 20’ i/o for $80. He won’t compound the hull, but will wax it. Any thoughts? BTW, this guy is in rural York county if that makes a difference. Thanks!
Does it need compounding? If it does all the wax in the world is not going to make it look like it should! In my book, you get what you pay for most of the time!
I’ve been detailing and bottom painting since 2001 and we typically charge $24-28/ft for complete detail to include compounding and waxing, metal polish, cushions, curtains/enclosures and hatches.

$80 barely covers the cost of material’s for your size boat. We would spend at minimum 16 man hours on a boat that size to do it right.
We give you an absolute price for your boat. We also give you the time it will take to complete, and are on the ball about staying on time. You get what you pay for for sure.
