Is there a problem having your boat in salt water for 7 straight days w/o bottom paint? Gel coat is in good condition.

in the middle of the summer I have left mine (unpainted) in the creeks for up to 2 weeks…barnacles did already start growing…took me a little scrubbing to get the barnacles off then a nice oxalic acid bath and the hull looked brand new…
animal cruelty sucks…unless his lip hurts cause there is a 1/0 Owner Aki hook with a chinaback stuck in it

Should be no problem, I did that at Edisto a couple yrs ago and no growth (in August)

Maybe no barnacles/clams; but they’ll be a scum line to be reckoned with.
Thanks! Want to take boat and family to Keys this summer and wanted to leave boat tied to dock.

we go every year, and I leave the boat in the entire week, and never have any issue, except last year, the wind blew and it rained EVERY day

I’ve had no prob’s in the keys after several week+ trips either.
There’s a lot more growing in the waters up here mid-summer on…
Chris V, do you mind me asking where you go? This will be my families first trip to the keys for vacation and I haven’t booked it yet. You can PM me if you don’t want it public. THX

Also if you happen to have any secret Keys fishing spots…
Not an issue, but buy a cheap sponge with one side that scrubs. Halfway through the week, get in the water and scrub the outside to prevent growth and keep the scum line off (just using the salt water). Clean again at the end of the week with fresh water and soap. Dispose of sponge.
I did this while at a beach house in Cherry Grove and had no problems.

My brother Pete was a charter captain in Naples and has all kinds of #'s for the Keys so I won’t need any of those from Chris:smiley:. Now he is working for a private owner as their fishing yacht captain! Not a bad gig, going all over the world fishing whenever the owner desires.

Cudjoe Key resort called Venture Out off of Spanish Wales Road. Short ride to Key West if you want to do the tourist thing for a day or two. Gated community with canals so you can keep the boat behind the house. Community has its own boat ramp, trailer parking, marina w/ fuel/ice/bait, tennis courts and swimming pool. Short boat ride offshore to Leau Key for the best snorkling in the Keys. Communinty is a mix of houses and trailers, mostly houses on the water and trailers on the inland side. We paid about $1200 a week in May for a 2 bedroom 2 bath house on the canal. By the way, not nearly as much problems with growth and scum down there. 1-week will not hurt a thing. If your hull is waxed good, you mostly likely don’t even need to worry about a scum line.
I second Cudjoe. Some of the best reefs around. We have left the boat in for two weeks with no issues down there. Maybe once or twice while out swimming I scrub the water line.
Man I want to go!
