We all need to put the heat on the politician’s and DNR for at least one usable boat landing on the Cooper at all tide phases. We all pay the property taxes, make them use some of it for the Boater’s and fisherwomen, and fishermen’s pleasure. It’s the same old story we don’t have the money or land. That’s BS. Apply max pressure on the politician’s.
We have many fishing clubs in the area that pretty much cover a large percentage of all fisher-people in the area. It might carry some weight with the local politicians if we drafted a letter in support of this and co-signed by all the presidents of all the fishing clubs in Charleston. I’m past-president of SSWA and I can tell you we would all be 100% behind this. Corkman is a member. Those of you involved in leadership of the other clubs, would you be willing to co-sign if we draft a letter? George, would you be willing to draft the letter?

I’d like to know why this area would not work for a Cooper public landing. Pretty much condemned land (Superfund site), ample area for a lot. Deep water. I’ll even name it: Summey Landing. Done and done!

We have a lot of members in the East Cooper Fishing Club launch out of Bushy Park. I’m sure ECFC would support a movement to get the landing deepened.

My understanding was that it was going to be a ramp. Whatever terminal that is across from that opposed it because they get a shipment once an month and said the recreational boaters would be a hazard when the ship came in.
