Boat landings

Berkeley County council meets tomorrow evening at 6 PM in Moncks Corner in the Assembly Room of the Berkeley County Administrative Building, 1003 Highway 52 Monks Corner.
Let’s all make a showing and find out what is going on with a new boat landing, or dredging Bushy Park. We can sign up before the meeting to address the council. LET’S ROLL and get some answers.

Did you get any good information to pass?

I tried to make it but left work late.

Anyone attend?

The plan for Bushy Park, according to county council. A new boat landing with two lanes, and ample parking will be constructed about one half mile north of the previous landing. If you are looking north from the old landing, you will see a point of tree’s extending out into the river. That is the spot of the new landing. Plans have been drawn, the one cent tax is being used.
The sad news, we won’t see a new boat landing for at least a couple of years.
It’s a long drawn out process, lot’s of permitting, and jumping through hoops.
They would not comment on where, or what the money, that had been appropriated from previous Berkeley County Supervisors was used for.
It might be a good idea to keep bringing this up at future Berkeley County Council meetings.
How easily politicians forget. We should have had a new boat landing five years ago.

Thanks for all the leg work corkman!

I talked with the VP of Cooper River Partners (owners of the property) this week. He said that the property has NOT been given to the county yet. They have a lot of concerns about the proximity of the plants to the proposed landing. I asked Bill Peagler about it a month ago and he stated that they were moving right along and we should see it completed by next spring. Typical BS in an election year.

Sounds kind of like, “I’m here to help” and “the checks in the mail”.

Thanks for the update.

On a positive note, those who can handle the mud get a few more years of quiet.
