I’ve got a Sea Pro 27 wa, I’m looking to move up in length of boat. If you’re gonna move up, what length would you notice a performance difference? I don’t wanna sell a 27 just to buy a 31 at not notice that big of a performance difference. Meaning, how it handles rough conditions. What would be a good updgrade?
Thanks in Advance.
How big is your check book?
$100k
Length is relative to hull design in regards to performance. You can go from that god forsaken seapro and into a smaller boat with a 24 degree deadrise and will notice a world of difference in how it handles rough water. Go to a 31 Contender, Seavee, ect ect ect and it’ll be a huge upgrade. If you have 34 freeman Money even better, don’t even check the weather, fish when you want.

Are you looking to keep it in the water or trailer. Lots of used pocket sport fishers can be snatched up for 100K. If you trailer, what’s the max weight you’d like to have?
You can find deals like this on 10 year old boats all over the place: http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2005-triton-351-cc-102669261/

Those are lot of boat for the money, but they’ll be 10K-11K lbs when you tow it. Just some things to think about.

I would trailer it, I have a f350 dually so it should pull most any size.
If I were 30 years younger I would have a Freeman! 33’ or 37’ with twin four strokes. I have had a great time on my Bertram but the cost of upkeep and fuel is draining! Most of my buddys have gone to better places and these young fellows can’t afford to help with the expenses.

Yeah, that’ll pull anything. Those 29 Regulators are great fishing boats, heavy and rides like a champ.
Good luck. You have plenty of options.

Your truck will tow any of those easily so I wouldn’t worry so much about the weight. I would, however, be concerned about the width and length. SC towing laws indicate a max length and width for a trailer at 35’ and 8.5’. It’s a different story if you have a CDL though.
