First off, I’d like to thank CPT STEVE!! Dude, you rawk! I sure do appreciate the info.
I’m asking the rest of my question here because I thought maybe more people than just me might wonder this, and I don’t want to overstay my welcome in asking CPT STEVE too many questions.
Okay, so my boats name is “Reelly Blessed” as you can see in my sig block. CPT STEVE showed me that I can use that name over the radio when doing radio checks and such. I’ve heard many different names of boats on the radio in my short time on the water.
What I’m wondering is, do I have to officially register the name of the boat somewhere? My thinking is that if ANYONE can name their boat ANYTHING, how are they kept straight over the airways? Why do you see i.e. “My Boat,” and “My Boat II” on two different boats?
Just wanting to make sure I’m not breaking any rules. I did a short search of boat names on Google and such and really can’t find anything definitive.
I don’t think you have register your boat name unless it is over a certain length. I’m not sure bout the size but it is more than what we have. I do know what your saying, but I have never had an issue. see my boat name
Sirecks, its no problem, we’re here to serve. You only need to register your boats name if it is documented along with other pertinent info that is required. If you get an EPIRB then the registration will also ask for vessel information as well. Naming your boat is just a way to personalize it. Usually there is a story behind it and some stories are better than others. Looking at yours its obviously an awesome story. Feel free to ask away, call, email, pm, whatever works. My PM box gets loaded, you’re not alone and I like getting to know you guys and gals, keep em comin. Take care
@Fishb8, I love the name BTW!! How sure are you of that? HA HA HA
@CPT STEVE, thanks again. I do appreciate it. An EPIRB is now on my radar to purchase since I’ve got the means to buy gear to fish offshore. Now I just need to start my safety equipment for that kind of fishing.
