Boat Opinions

Hello everyone, I would like to get some opinions on a boat. Right now I’m fishing from a G3 1652. There’s no storage and when you put a bait tank in the boat there’s really no room then. My fishing consist of bass, crappie, striper at Clarks Hill and a few trips a year to Santee. I fish by myself a lot so I want something easy to handle. I don’t think I want a center console, I’ve kind of been leaning towards a bass boat. I was wondering if anyone on here striper fishes out of a bass boat and if they do what are the pro’s and con’s. I’m open to suggestions the boats right now that I seem to like best are a Ranger RT188, Ranger 119, and a Wareagle961. Thanks

With the options you listed, I think the war eagle in something like a predator configuration would be the best all around.

Wilderness Ride 115

I agree on the predator. They seem very well laid out for what you want to do.

I striper fished out of a bass boat for many years and had a ball! In fact, the same 175 that came off the 1987 Bass Hawk powers my 22 foot Xpress today. I moved to the center console when the transom rotted in the bass boat. The only bad thing with fishing out of the bass boat was rough water. It wasn’t a very dry ride, and I took many a wave over the bow. If center consoles aren’t your thing, Xpress makes plenty of other configurations. As you can see by my signature, I’m a proud Xpress owner.

Check out the new sea ark line of boats. They are making some nice looking dual console “cat and striper” boats.
Go to “catfish edge.com” or catfish edge on you tube to take a look at this guy’s new sea ark.

Nice looking fishing machine…

Pretty sure that catfish edge guy fishes out of a seaark 240 procat. I talk about that boat to my wife all the time like its our next kid…ha… she has no clue what it is, looks like etc; but if a stranger approached her and ask what kind of boat i needed/wanted she could probably spout all the specs and everything on that boat… one day

Chip, that’s a nice boat. But $45,000+ new? Maybe if I’d have won a share of the Powerball last night. Oh well.

I think you should buy a wellcraft V20 dual console with a 200 hp evinrude ocean pro. I might know where you can find a good deal on one.

I recomend a 20’ Glassmaster trihull with walk tru windsheild in the cooler months and a 23’ center console in the warmer months both with a 50 gal baker bait tank, 12" Lowrance hd with scan and chirp, I pilot and 250/300 hp E tec!

Touche’ Chip. I guess that I was just surprised, shocked is more like it, when I looked them up and saw the price. I know that Sea Ark makes an outstanding boat, the best aluminum boat available around here, I just had never priced them. When I get rich, I’ll buy each of us one.

Funny thing is I’ve heard that there is a waiting list to buy a new one. Really?

Although 45k does sound a little high. That must be super loaded…ha…yhe one i priced was around 33-35k. Some of the stuff they try to get you to pay for as an “extra” is stupid. O took out 2 seats (comes with 4 captain chairs) and it knocked $1k off.

If you can afford one of these then you can afford to live in a warmer climate …

Like my Lund also Happy Bob.

That SeaArk240 is amazing.

Obviously since I own a Lund I am an aluminum boat man and that sea ark boat has just about everything I can think of.

The Columbia boat show is at the fairgrounds this weekend…http://www.columbiaboatshow.com/ It’s always fun to tell others how much money they should spend…lol Mark if you spent a little more time wacking some striper, I bet you’d throw rocks at them green fish when you see them…Offer to buy some gas and bait for someone to show you their boat. No better way to learn about fishing boats than to hop on someones boat.
