Boat paint color change??

If I wanted to get my boat painted a different color than it is now, where would I go? Also, is it just paint, or is it Gel coat? How much does that cost (ballpark)? Thanks guys and girls…

I’ve seen some painted boats around and have asked about the process myself. All of them that I have seen are painted with “awlgrip” (so I’m told). It looks really good on the boats that I have seen. I have been told that it’s very expensive. There are several folks advertising on Craigslist for boat painting, mostly ASI, and I think they are quoting the neighborhood of $30.00 per foot. Don’t quote me on that though. And I have no idea on the quality of work ASI does. I’ve been talking to them about upholstery work. Thier prices on that seem reasonable.

great, thanks for the info TexasRed. I didn’t even think to look on craigslist. I am guessing the $30/foot is per square foot or just per foot of boat (like a 21’ Sea-Pro?)

There is a lot of prep work (mostly sanding and removing items) involved in painting a boat with Awlgrip. It is a professional job for sure and you will want to see examples of their work…even call their previous customers before you let them touch your boat.

how about boat wrap? can anyone recommend someone good and semi inexpensive in the area?
