Are there any other boat ramps around N. charleston than bushy park
for entry to the cooper river?
OMG, my exact question. Have a new Gheenoe with a 10" draft but been hearing Bushy Park will leave you high and dry if you are not watching the tide.
Any ‘captains’ working the Cooper. New to the area, think best way to learn the ‘way’ is with a scout.
Leeds ave is almost N. Charleston … lots of room … not to busy except for the weekends … but sounds like you are talking about almost summerville
Bushy Park is ok as long as you really pay attention to the tide. We have an 18’ Pioneer and can make it in and out just fine as long as we time it an hour or so either side of low tide. There is about 1.5 ft. at those times. Stay on a plane coming in and you will be ok…a little scary, but ok. Your motor will suck mud if you idle in. We’ve seen it as low as 4" deep in there at some of the minus tides, but we never seem to have a problem as long as we follow the 1 hour on either side rule. The fishing up there is really the best if you can plan to fish the falling tide anyway and plan to come back in a couple of hours after it starts coming back in. You’ll have plenty of water if you do that. Good luck and good fishing.

Westvaco Park Boat Landing on Virginia Ave. Just make sure you lock your doors. I have not been there in a few years but I guess its still open.
Key West 1720 115 HP Johnson Saltwater.
I believe that is Hendrick Park. There are some obstructions near the mouth of that creek. Be careful at low tide. The ramp is not very long and we used to have to use a tilt trailer at low tide with a 16’ boat years ago. With a small boat it is a great landing but not very secure…wouldn’t leave my truck there at night. It is not far away from Clouter Creek.

Good news about Bushy as I like the landing and is close to Sville. So 2 hours before and after high tide is good?
We can make it in/out an hour or so either side of dead low. At 2 hours on either side you will have about 1.5’ at the lowest spot. An hour before low when coming back in we usually stay on a plane until we get really close to the landing. When going out an hour before, get up on a plane really fast and stay there all the way to the channell. It is a little deeper close to the ramp than it is midway between the ramp and the channel. Good Luck & Be Careful

how is it on the fresh water side at Bushy?
No problems on the freshwater side…plenty of water there. The saltwater side is silting up due to the barge traffic. When the tugs round the corner, all the silt is pushed right back towards the landing. Bummer!
