Boat registration questions.

Hey guys, got some questions for you experienced SC boat owners.
I’ve come into ownership of an 16ft '91 Landau bass boat that a family friend is simply signing over title to me. No exchange of $.
Just wondering what the process is for registration and since it was free, how they determine value. I understand I’ll have to pay property tax on that value when I register, correct? If it’s not currently registered in SC, does that complicate matters?
Any additional fees, taxes, etc that I might not be aware of?

Call the DNR they can explain everything you need to bring into the office. It usually is an easy process just make sure you have all the paper’s hat are required.

Double D.

I’m not sure about SC law, but it would probably be better to get a legal bill of sales. Pay your friend $1 for the boat and have a bill of sales completed.
