Has anyone tried boat sealant for the gel coat as opposed to just wax? Would either help decrease the discoloration of the gel coat? Or decrease use of the hulll cleaner?
If you are talking about something like PoliGlow, it WILL make you boat shine. HOWEVER, as it wears off, it will cause your gel coat to look like a car whose clear coat has started to come off. My friend used it on his 30’ Cruiser one year and it looked like crap within a few months until he used a buffer and a mild abrasive cleaner/polish to remove it.

Just start using better Wax, and a good buffer. I use a porter cable 7424 & these pads - http://www.autogeek.net/lc-ccs-6inch-pads.html . If it’s oxidized use Collinite fiberglass cleaner to polish it up. Collinite paste wax is pretty good stuff and should last longer. If it’s badly oxidized use a stonger polish like 3M’s product, then the fiberglass cleaner a couple times, then the wax. It’s all time. Or call Scott and pay him to do it all. 843-270-4269. He’ll make it look new again.

I mostly want to know what may help decrease the water stain I get on the bottom of the boat when I fish a lot in the Wando. I know I can use hull cleaner or RustAid, but I concerned repeated use will erode the gel coat.
