Just wanted to post my comments on my recent service at Seel’s West Ashley. I’m the only owner of my boat.
Fuel gauge has not worked for last 3 years. I just fill it up before every trip. They replaced the sending unit for me, part + half-hour of labor.
Steering was seized and has seized every winter for the past 3 years. I usually can break it free with a hammer and then clean out some of the old grease, re-grease, and it’s good for the warm season. I would’ve fully cleaned it myself, except on the KW1720 you have to remove the motor to remove the steering shaft. Seel’s dismounted the motor inspected the cable and helm, found it in good condition, cleaned and regreased.
They also changed the foot oil.
I dropped it off at 5 last Wednesday and picked it up after lunch Thursday… and I was pleasantly surprised by the low cost. I highly reccommend their work.
They must like to give good service, I took my Key West in and was told when I could expect it back. I was shocked at the price,I had expected to pay much more. I was kept informed as to what was going on. THEY WILL CONTINUE TO GET MY BUSINESS.
I bought my boat from Ernie at Seels before he retired, and he was a great guy to deal with. But, the whole Seels clan works there and each one is nicer and more pleasant to deal with than the one before. And when I take my boat in, whatever they fixed stays fixed.
I have strayed once or twice and taken my boat elsewhere before, but I always go back to Seels.
