boat shoes for winter?

What do you recommend for wearing on your feet for winter fishing out of the boat?

depends on the temps,40-50 socks and tennis shoes,50–70 no socks,70+ flops…20-40 insulated boots with wool socks

Good quality and thick wool or wool blend socks and whatever footwear is comfortable. I picked up some Red Head wool hunting socks from Bass Pro and have been happy with them. I wear Crocs (I know they are ugly, but my feet love them) even on the coldest days and never have issues. Not having a shoe the compresses the sock too much and with good ventilation helps to maximize the insulating properties of wool. The main benefit of wool is that it will keep your feet warm even when wet.

I have some Lands End and LL Baen boat shoes I wear most of the year. Once it gets cool/cold, I wear rubber boots as it seems I always find a way to get mt feet wet. I have cold feet anyway but, wet + cold feet = very long, unfun day. Warm, dry feet make me happy.

Seriously??

Seriously?? what?? Is it a dumb question?

I’m new to this stuff.

I mentioned this in the kayak section before, but look into a cheap pair of surfing booties. They’re neoprene and rubber and are like a form fit. You can even walk on oyster beds with no problem. If you are unsure about the warmth qualities of neoprene, put on a wetsuit and try to not sweat.

Sperrys, extra socks…

Hairball, I like the crocs too and my wonderfull wife found me some with non-slip soles, they are the ticket, if you haven’t tried em they are well worth the xtra money!

You can’t catch fish on a dry line

Surfing booties work great if you are planning on getting wet. They will destroy your feet if you are planning to stay dry. You will sweat and blister up. Speaking from experience as surfer, diver, and fisherman.

For me
chilly, socks and sneakers.
cold, Matterhorn work boots, wool socks

One of the best things I ever figured out was. BRING SPARE SOCKS. and change them after your feet start sweating.

sailing boot is working well for me. with 2 pair of sox or heavy wool sox feet stay comfy

Smartwool socks are a great starting point before any shoes or boots are put on. I’ve had many days where my feet were the warmest out of everything else.
