Anyone planning on going to the boat show this weekend? If so is there anything in particular you’re going to see?
Was thinking about going but then quickly remembered my last couple of trips…Its so nice to look and touch but having to walk out of there like someone licked all the red off my lollipop stinks…lol…

Where is there a boat show this weekend
Its at Columbia Fair Grounds
“My biggest worry is that my wife (when I’m dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.”
Planning to go - I like looking at the new center consoles and the bay fishing boats, but 90% of the boats there are “water gnat” ski/party boats with tricked out sound systems, wave board holders, etc. There is a market for it so that’s probably why they have so many there. Some of the monster pontoons are pretty wild.

I think I’ll skip this year. With the economy the way it has been for the past few years, the show has been a bit disappointing. Every year there are fewer dealers and lines. A couple of years ago they combined it with the RV show which was pretty cool idea and I’m not sure why they only did it once.
For the past three years the wife and I have been hitting the boat show in North Charleston (Two weeks ago). Bigger show and several side venders. The only downside is that it’s located close to the Outlets so the wife requires that we stop in for some shopping before we get on the road home.

i would go if they had any aluminum inboard jets to drool over…lol

I’ve spent about 85% of my life’s wages on fishing, the rest I just wasted…
Will sea hunt be there?
BG
If i had to guess mid-carolina probably will be there in place of Sea Hunt with them being the in-town dealer… i deliver pretty much everyday to Sea Hunt, everything from motors, fiberglass, and anything that can go on a boat. Got to see the new “feather-light” 200’s that are coming out real soon. Supposedly they are equivalent to a 150 in weight but still a 200. And from what i hear they are coming out with a new 30fter real soon. Sea Hunt sure has come along way in just a short time…

crowds were a little disappointing for the dealers but still a lot of nice looking boats. Sea Hunt was well represented and as Billy mentioned the tow boats are getting more plentiful and wilder every year. How the heck do these young kids talk their parents into spending that kind of money.I looked at a super air nautique and the boat show special price was 123k. All of those fancy boats with even fancier prices make my little 19’ Hydra Sports that’s paid for look even better.
Went yesterday…lot of nice center consoles and fishing boats to look at. The Gamefish 25 Sea Hunt was sweet. Don’t think i would go for an all black hull like the one they had on display, but the layout was nice. Might have to get creative to fit a trolling motor on it.
It is amazing how much a new pontoon costs. I was curious if people were just looking or if anyone was buying…I didn’t notice any deep conversations with the vendors…it has to be tough to sell new boats in a slow economy.
