I’ve had the infinity 6" in my console for 4 years now and they still sound as good as the day they came out of the box. they take a beating outside in the elements too, as it’s an open center console…no t top or cover to keep out the rain, wind, and snow.
snow???

16’ War Eagle 40 Yami
12’ Alumacraft 1954 Johnson 5.5
I’d rather be a conservative nut-job than a liberal with no nuts and no job!!
ok snow was a bit much…but they have had their share of frost on some of those cold winter mornings.
I have had sony speakers exposed for 3 years with no problems. Still sound fine.
how about something to tie in the ipod with out using a stereo? Could I not just use some of amp?

Go on ebay and look for MBQUART, I just picked up 2 pairs for $75 each that come with a 3 year warranty.
Don’t assume that anything you buy to replace what you have will be a “direct drop in”, I had the 6" Clarions in my boat and when I switched them out with the new ones I had to Roto-zip about an 1/8 of an inch all the way around for the new speakers to fit.
Have been real impressed with the sound out of the MBQUART and with the 3 year warranty I feel like I got a great deal.
Sanford in 2012!
I put poly planars in mine. they sound great.
as for the ipod thing i have a aux plug right in the front of my stereo but if you have a cigarette lighter you can use the same plug like you do in a car and set the radio to the correct station. we did that last summer and it was kinda cool. everyone could play te same music at the sand bar all at one time.

i have 2 sets of these Bose 131 Marine Speakers tied into a Clarion am/fm/xm radio with ipod connection. 2 speakers are on the side of the console and 2 are facing the console on the downside of the front platform. i can turn it up as loud as they will go and cant hear the first bit of cracking or ■■■■■■■■. well worth the money
“The amount of money I’ll be makin would hurt your parents feelings. Remember the class where I taught you all how to make it rain? That’s what I’ll be doin every night, dollar…dollar…bills y’all.”
JL’s for sure but they need power or MBQuartz like Fritz recommended.
“Plan like you will live forever but live like you will die tomorrow.”
I want to do away with the whole stereo thing and use a amp instead trying to find amp to handle the marine environment. Thanks for the help om the speakers.
