boat trailer axle

just had a boat trailer axle go out on me coming from charleston heading back to the upstate this weekend past.my question is how often do you guys grease ya axle/bearings.iknow i had greased them that week before i left but maybe that wasnt enough.also whats the best lube to use…:question:

Greasing all depends on usage. I used to repack mine every winter because I was using the boat weekly and sometime several times in a week. I always use a marine grease usally blue in color, it is supposed to have better corrosion resistance over standard axle grease. Bearing buddies are a must and I use them to top my hubs off every couple of months. I also check hub temperature regularly and always on a long trip. If the hub is hot to the touch then you know you got an issue.

Use Bearing Buddies and put a shot of grease in each one, once a month, whether they need it or not. Orrrrrrr… let the bearings cease up on you while you are driving along the interstate and replace the hubs and bearings while trucks wizz past you.

Bearing Buddies. Fresh grease. Why not?

cant beat the berring buddys! Just hit them with a spot of greese every 200 or so miles to flush out any h2o build up.After you watch them for a while you can see how much spring tenshon is on them and tell weather or not they need greasing! better to waste greese than to burn up a bearing. When I stop at any time on a long trip I always ck to see if my wheels are hot! Just touch the hub you can tell.I always carry a grese gun and extra bearings and seals, extra bearing buddys, and tools. I mounted a alum. tool box with these in it on the tounge of all my tra. has paid off many times!

Warning… if the bearing are burning out they can get hot enough to burn you severely! Get Bearing Buddies and shoot grease in them to flush out the old grease and any moisture. Grease will go bad even if you don’t use your trailer.

ok i see everybody talking about bearing buddies.who sell them in the upstate if you guys know…dumb question torrey just asked the guys who just ordered ya axle for you…thanks guys
