Boat Trailer Brakes?

At what cargo weight are boat trailer brakes required? What type brakes meet the requirements? Which types a best?
wans be legal if I trailer in GA and FL,

drum or disc will work, kodiak stainless disc are better than most
it either 3000 or 3500 pounds, can remember, but can check

no, Kodiak trailer brakes, they are far better than Tie Down engeneering brakes, they cost more though. Regardless of brand, in salt water, they will all eventually give problems. Thats why a lot of people chose to remove them(assuming you have a big enough tow rig to handle the boat)

Or you can drive unlike most people who tow boats you dont need brakes drive with sense besides like spareparts said they wont last in salt water
