Boat Upholstery

My boat is 10 years old and the upholstery is looking pretty shabby. I have a console seat/backrest and a removable cooler with cushioned seat/back. I got an estimate of $150 each using marine grade, ribbed vinyl. I got the quote from Nordan’s Trim Shop. This seems like a reasonable price but, I really don’t know anywhere else in Columbia to take it so wondered if anyone else has had this done and whether or not this was a reasonable price.

Thanks

DF,
Look at craigslist under boats. several companies advertise there. I have not used any of them. I did a quote from http://www.awcanvas.com/.

I used aw canvas to repair a canvas top when it ripped, they did a pretty good job. I don’t know what they would charge for your seats, but I was happy with the work they did for me.

I took mine from Greenwood to Summerville to have it done because the guy at Extreme Upholstery has done lots of prototyping for Sea Hunt and Key West, etc. I had a Sea Hunt. He redid my 22’ dual console from bow to stern and I love it.

He quoted everything from pictures and a few dimensions. If you’re saying 3 cushions for 3 x $150, I think that might be a bit high.
I’m not sure if there is a sponsor for this site in that business, but that would be another good option.

doug: give kathy foster a call at foster upholstery here in lex. 808-2982. tell her that i reccomended her. she will probably upcharge you 30%. really though, kathy does super work. probably about the same as others but she is fast and you are not in that long line waiting. good luck.

I am looking to have the cooler seat and backrest done on my boat also. There is a place here in lexington on HWY 6 and Industral Drive. I am hoping to check with them soon. I will let you know what they say. Keeps us posted on what /where you decide I have to do something soon.

Thanks for all the info guys. I’ll give Kathy a call Bobby. Hey Pluff, I think the place you are referring to is AW Canvas that fishb8 mentioned. I emailed them and was told if I sent pictures/measurements, they would give me an estimate. I’ll let you know what all I find out.

DF you may also want to give Taylor’s Upholstery a call. He has done work for a lot of guys in Midlands Striper Club and has very good pricing.

not crazy over aw canvas. they do not seem to be that interested in getting the job done in a timely manner etc. just was not happy with the outfit. could just be me.

Good to know about AW. Hey Curly, is that Gottlieb-Taylor Upholstery on Two Notch Road?

I’ve used Nordans several times, the prices were good and the service was timely.

I got an estimate from AW, $460 for both and 2 weeks to do them. I will check Foster’s and Taylor’s this week and report back.
