Boat Wax?

Getting ready to wax the boat,2 years old and in great shape. I have always have used a spray type wax with good results. Do these provide as good of protection as a paste wax? I usually do the boat twice a year.

Jeff

I have always had great results with the 3M marine liquid products. About once a year I would use the Cleaner wax, and follow it up with the polish. Just apply, let haze and buff off by hand. The other time I would just use the 3M polish compound.

Spray wax technology has come a long way in the past few years, but I find that you can actually get a lot more area covered for the money with the rub on liquid wax. Plus it is easier to make sure you don’t miss a spot.

X2

X3. Love it. Holds shine even at water level

I might have to give that stuff a try as well. I have been using 3M products for over 15 years now and have been very pleased with the results. I like how the 3M waxes react to high speed buffing if you have some oxidation. Brought back many a weathered 33’ plus boats back in the day at Marlin Quay and Hague Marina.

Where is the best place to get the wax pictured above at a good deal?

agree with you on 3M products bringing back oxidized or faded hulls really well.

The liquid collinite wax goes on and you take it off before it dries. EXTREMELY easy application and long lasting. It’s the final step after you’ve restored everything with machine like you’re saying. Once a year with the Collinite is about like 3 times a year with other stuff…

Atlantic Game & Tackle has some sitting around I believe, and West also sells it.

They sell it by the gallon? I’m gonna put about three or 20 coats on the new black hull when I finally get it home.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.
