You may be thinking of Mark Googer. He doesn’t build boats but does probably the best marine metal fabrication of anyone in town.

Mark Bayne’s shop is just down the street from Mark Gouger’s shop. Mark B is a very accomplished boat builder and was the master ship wright on the Spirit of SC ship. He is also the builder of Artemis down at City Marina. He could build just about anything you want out of wood. Make sure you check out his latest boat, the 36 Explorer.
