I’m sure that most of you remember the two boating accidents at Suzie Ebert last spring-both awful and avoidable. I was reading the Sunday paper this am on the thrown and saw the name of the boat and the perverbial light bulb came on-I know this guy. He is/was a member on here. I had met him on the water a few times and talked to him on radio as well. Nice kid with a nice center console, young and had the rest of his life in front of him. Now being tried at 25 years old for the death of 2 young women and severly injuring the 2 guys.
I am not gonna bash this guy who made a really poor choice by being drunk and driving. I for one love to enjoy a few beverages in the hot summer sun as are most of us. There is a problem here, on the lake with drunk people and/or people who are not experienced boaters that do some REALLY stupid stuff on the water as we all have seen. I for one almost ran over 2 boats this past summer who just decided to turn in front of me,oh, and a (**() jet ski too.
Anyway, back to the subject. Spring is coming and I would like to remind everyone to do right. It could have been me, you or a loved one in the boat that was hit. Now we have a young man who changed his life, the other boaters lives and many other peoples lives directly or indirectly forever. Truly sad. Many of us fish at night- be careful and if you see somebody who is impaired, please pick up the radio and call DNR - it could save your life or someone elses.
