I think I am going to need a netman for a few times this season. The guy I was supposed to bring along is giving hints that he cannot do it now. I am going to try the 1 pole method, I just to see if it works well.
Anyway, I think this would be a good way for some people to meet-up for those needing a ride or a thrower.
I have all the gear (no poles yet, but should by Friday), just need someone to help run the net and/or boat.
If you need a man during the week I might be able to help, just depends on the day. My next three weekends are pretty booked up, but I have days off during the week and I wouldn’t mind throwing a net. I work rotating shifts so I won’t be the most reliable person for weekends though.
Tigerfin, that might work out pretty well. I can take half days with 1 day notice at work. That way, if I am up real late I can sleep in and go to work at noon. I will pm you my number. I planned on the harbor out from wappoo.
Don’t let not having a thrower stop you. I have gone out alone and one-poled it a few times. Besides missing the camaraderie of your friends, it is rather quiet and peaceful. It works if you sit on a good spot. Simply anchor off the bow/stern. toss bait around your boat and throw. My son and I have one-poled as well because it is a little more stress free (yes, we tend to fuss at each other).

Right now I plan on 1 poling this weekend. My 10yr old son wants to go. I think it will be a lot easier for him and me if we are stationary. I have a big anchor pin I plan on using for the stern and anchor the bow.
Shoot me a text… I’m always up for some time on the water! However, I do work 11-6 mostly 7 days a week, so evening are great for me, or early mornins.
Maxrooster , where are you located? I had open heart surgery and a valve repaired 2 weeks ago! Going to the dr. tomorrow and see when I can drive and sit in my boat, He already told me I could not throw a net till next year, hope I can go before the season ends I have only 4 Quarts left from last year! Usualy go to BB or ST Helena.
MattR- from experience, 3 points of attachment work bestest… if you have an extra one, bring it.
yep. I have also used a couple poles right along the sides like anchor pins to control the swing of the boat, works as long as you’re pretty much parallel to the current (as long as your boat is not too big I guess, works w/ my 20’ CC), and then you don’t have as many anchor lines to contend with.

I can go. I throw a 7’ net and have my own. My boat won’t be up and running so I cant go out on my boat. It would be cool if me and your son and you went. Plus we fish and probably shrimp the same areas…

I could tie your yak behind my boat and take you out. Have you ever gone 55 mph in a kayak before?
