Boats Been Sitting for Months...

Work has prevented me from doing anything with my boat in a few months. It has about 20 gallons of fuel that was treated with ethanol treatment before this downtime. How should this be handled?

I would not be that worried but I only buy ethanol free. I go a few months in between sometime especially during the winter.

If treated, you should be OK. Crank it up and see how she runs, then take it out for a joy ride and burn some of the old gas out, then add some fresh with treatment.

Thanks for the ■■■■■■■■. Didn’t know if I needed to drain it or try to siphon any of it out.

You should be fine. I have a two boats. One four stroke I add eth. treatment to since it is new. The other is a 1995 40 force two stroke. I used it for the first time in four months last weekend and always runs fine. Usually I disconnect fuel line and run out of carbs. but not this time and still ran fine.

Good luck

It is nice to have a racor style filter with a bowl on the bottom so you can keep an eye on things when you take your first ride. Even with the treatment you’ll sometimes get some gunk in the bowl that you can drain out instead of running through your motor. You should be fine but a good filter is always a good idea.
