There is an area in the Ashley right after Dolphin Cove Marina (if your going up river) that is marked with signs and markers marked BOATS KEEP OUT
Anyone know why?
just curious
THANKS

The next property is a chemical plant. I’ll tell you this, I wouldn’t take my boat near that place anyway. A little further upriver is a Superfund site. I don’t even take my boat in the Ashley River. Yes that will rile up some folks. To each his own.

Yep - Trashley… keep out. 1 or two active chemical plants, mostly operating per todays standards… vs a paper factory, large heavy industrial park, chemical plants, navy yard, nuke stuff, BP,Alcoa runoff, plus many many many others - and that is on what river?
they should make a like button for people’s comments Jughed…lol!

Thats funny, pulled a 28" red out of there on Sat.
Superfund or not, the fish seemed to fight the same.
I do appreciate all those who avoid the ashley. The ramp is less crouded and my fishing spots are always open.
By the way, there are 26 superfund sites in the Charleston area.
So is it safe to say that reds with more than one “eye” on their tail are a product of the Ashley? hahaha get it? So far it does just seem kind of dead out there to me, but I haven’t put my time in either.
The one I caught had no “Eye”

Just an FYI, if you go near the keep out area, there are rusted metal spikes sticking out of the ground. You can see some of them at low tide.
It looks like they were used to hold canvas to the river bottom.
This includes sections up and down river from the posted area.
