Guys I am a newbie to this forum and salt water fishing. I know just enough to be dangerous. I do have a 21 ft CC with trolling motor that i plan to keep and I enjoy. I am a bass fisherman and want to sell my bass boat and purchase a boat that I can bass fish out of and also salt water fish. I don’t have to run 70mph any longer so I am happy with 70 to 90 hp and 17-18 ft boat. I do want large upfront deck and also a back deck platform for fishing. I have a 21 Sea Hunt CC that I will take out on calm days but they don’t have a boat that I like in this range. What would you guys suggest?
I am confused at what sort of fishing you want to do, inshore or offshore, also search the past post in reference to this, there was a good post a few weeks back in reference to boats and whats for you and what isn’t.
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Yeh that sounded stupid. I have a 150 yami on back. I was asking about a fiberglass 17-18 with big decks front and back for shallow water, inshore. I use the 21ft for striper fishing, go out 3-4 miles and plunk around. I want to be able to bass fish as well .
To keep it simple you could go w/ the skiff style rig. Carolina Skiff, Sundance Skiff, etc. Classic set up, economical and bullet proof. The true flatbottom skiffs can be wet in the chop but they do offer some models w/ a bit of a V. One boat you might want to consider is the Key West 1720. I solid step up from the skiffs comfort wise, but still a classic rig. They are all over the place. Check Craigslist.
A bay boat is pretty much what you described. Also all of the bass boat manufacturers make their saltwater versions for inshore fishing. They are built the same way, just don’t have any carpet and use all ss hardware and saltwater trolling motors.

x2. Sounds like you’re a perfect fit for that. Ranger boats have salt versions like tigerfin mentioned.
