Ask the lodge or guide you will be with and get to the fly shop and pick up what they recommend and several variations of color in similarity.
Smaller and Lighter patterns seem to work better in that neck of the woodss. Several of Borski’s patterns like his Slider & Crabs should do double duity for you as some smaller Kwans & Toads. The EP Snapping Shrimp are also pretty versatile.
Patrick give me a call tmrw.

Rag head crabs. last mo fly tier had a great art. on Ascension bay and their flies. you can overnight some storebought ones through theflyshop.com. this was the “ticket” fly
I purchased a bone/permit pack of flys that had a lot of diff. stuff in it. just got to the boat and opened it up and the guide took his pick. cant remember how much though
It’s been the running joke among our group that no matter how many flies you carry (and I usually carry several boxes crammed full), when you show them to the guide, he’ll say, “None of those will work here.”
I try to carry several standard patterns in a rainbow of shades from light to dark. You also need variety in the weight of the flies, some with lead barbell eyes, some with plastic eyes and some blind ones. Sometimes you find a fly that works better than the ones the guide touts. Call the lodge and ask for the killer patterns and then, along with those, tie up a variety that’s similar, but different.
leaving in the morning report to follow next week hopefully it will be good
