Bonnetheads?

Have been trying to get Bonnetheads on the fly, but can’t get them to commit. Have had a good number of follows but no bites. Anybody have a special pattern or (forgive me purists) scent that gets them to eat?

MM landed one on his mud minow pattern. I think persistance is the the key. I recently landed a black tip and after I had placed the fly in front of him at least 20 times, he took.

I have landed one on a shrimp pattern and one on a Dupree spoon.
Keep at it…

been very close to landing one on a menhaden pattern more than a few times but only at one certain spot

yellow and red sea-ducer would be my 1st choice

Or you can fly fish for them

try a rattle mullet been hearin that you need a something noisy to crab attetion

I’m so Charleston i got spanish moss on my balls!!

bonnets are real scent oriented, im not gonna lie i let my crab fly marinade in a gulp bag and they eat it all day long, but they’ll hit a scentless shrimp pattern, i would recommend stayin away from the baitfish patterns man, bonnets all about the shellfish

very true but there is a spot in the harbor where ive regularly seen them attack baitfish on the surface and had them chase baitfish flies, its very odd, otherwise you are completely correct

This comin Friday if my new 10 wt gets here I’ll at Redfsihville tryin to get one OTF… if ya want come along…
