Bonnets

Fishing to me lately means nature adventure with a side of fishing if it the conditions permit. Today we went close to the ocean to comb the beach. My plan was to catch bait and then fish afterwards. When we got there we had to wade through bonnet heads to get to the beach. so, I immediately began searching for crabs and snagged one pretty quickly. So I waited till a bonnet came my way on the band and served up the paddle leg and half body. The shark circled the crab and grabbed it. Unfortunately, the teeth or oysters got my leader and it came undone. Rebait and repaeat although much smaller shark. Couldn’t find anymore crab so got in the boat and threw the net for about a dozen shrimp and two crabs. Couple mullet too. Saw the biggest bonnet ever. Had to be as big as they get. Went into the river to try some nice looking spots. Trashers ate my bait before I caught anything I would call a target. a 12" shark broke my shimano clarous rod though. I love those rods, but if you get a light one, it’ll break. Quickly! Second time for me. Bonnets are out in force. no surprise.

“Junk always sounds best.”

Dont High stick it! I broke one by highsticking a 4lb largemouth, ive replaced it and no issues on countless fish..

I noticed that teh Calrus has a limited lifetime over the counter warranty. Just wondered if either of you had your rods replaced under warranty and if so how it went. I had a Daiwa Coatstal replaced under warranty through Haddrell’s it cost me $20 for shipping. Not bad considering a new rod is around $90 bucks but it wasn’t OTC either.
