Botany Bay Surf. 6 / 15

Tried out the new Penn Torques today. The 7500 was a champ. Started the day with live whiting on it for bait and within 30 minutes that 6 inch fish was swallowed up by a 4.5 foot black tip got it all the way to the breakers and broke off at the swivel that happens twice and finally got a 4 footer to the beach. We used crab halves on the 5500 and lost one big red and two nice shark at the breaker again busting of at the swivel . By this time I am thoroughly frustrated and I realize my mistake. I have always been a mono line person and by recommendations on the forum here I had them spooled with 50 and 30 pd PP braid hence the mono type nots don’t cut it any more. I am sure this is general knowledge to most of you on here and I felt pretty stupid when the light bulb went off in my head and of course I blame the guy at the counter LOL because I told him it was all new to me but still didn’t make me feel any better . So with all that being said what’s the best knot for braid? Ad go easy my pride is been hurt enough!

Good job Wicked. The best knot for braid is a Palomar no question. And easy to tie!

Optiker we had a ball, Palomar is about as easy as it gets . Didn’t even think about that one.
