Has anyone done any Kayak fishing down that way? I was thinking of heading down to Botany some time, but I know nothing of the area. Any intel would be appreciated. Feel free to PM me if you don’t want it out on Al Gore’s Interweb.

Dolphin, I haven’t yakked there but am familiar with it. There is a Kayak only launch into Oscella creek. I’ve been back there in my stinkpot from the water access and its super fishy (and skinny) back there. Jason’s lake now allows kayaks but you have to have a youth with you to fish it. Lots o’ fish in there but its catch and release. The front beach is a good half mile hike then another half mile to Townsend inlet. Keep that in mind if you were thinking of going out there. Definitely would need a cart. Hope this helps.
Edit to add: One more thing: Make sure you check in advance because Botany is closed a lot in the cold weather months for private hunts. Its a hike to go there only to find out its closed. It should be published somewhere on dnr.sc.gov
