bottlenose dolphin vs sheepshead

I encountered this large dolphin and a 3 lb sheepshead match-up earlier in the week at a local marina. The dolphin flushed the sheepy into the upper reaches of the pilings. The tide was high and the space between the pilings was tight. However the tide was falling, meaning the sheepshead was going to run out of luck unless the dolphin moved on. The sheepshead was pretty beat up…the dolphin could get a little nip of it now and then. The sheepshead is briefly visible in the video around the 3:20 mark.

That’s pretty cool!

That was a cool video. I’m gonna say a very controversial thing. What keeps Dolphin in check?

I remember many years ago when an all out war was fought against Seals around Alaska and the damage they caused. It was a win win until Peta and like groups broke in. Sorry but We as Humans are top of the food chain and as such maybe some thinning of the herd needs to be done. Just stating a Human population growth truth. Life can not always be rainbows and candy.

There was a die-off several years ago.

And contamination of “mother’s milk” is another problem for new borns.

awesome vid

you hear time to time about dolphins being super intelligent and taking over the world… glad to see they aren’t any good at catching sheepshead either!

Now that is funny!!

Dad used to use a stout Cain pole and walk the jetties around Tybee about 50 years ago sight fishing for them. Got to see some pics of monster sheep. It’s hit and miss thing for me.

This was me and some out of town friends in Clouter Creek maybe 2 years ago…
Pretty awesome sight to see in person! Your video is really cool too, thanks for sharing!
