in spite of the forcast we went today. limits for all. nice ocean. lots of life out there. i think the bouy report helped us by keeping all the cornholers home.
if you didn’t go you missed out.

were you in a 40’ boat? By the look of the wind, it was not nice out there

We waited until about noon and headed out to the 60, plenty of decent to big BSB’s and a couple sheephead. Really laid down nice for a great ride in. Back at the dock by 4:30.

We were on my 35 Contender and it was just fine. Slick by the time we headed in.

We toughed it out to 65’ in a 19 Outrage yesterday just before lunch. Caught one short gag, 2 ARS, and a limit of BSB’s. Ride in was fine, and actually didn’t take a bit of spray (as compared to the hundereds of gallons we took over the bow on the ride out).

Short grass and tight lines, make a man feel so fine!

Sells: we didn’t go out but 16 miles (not where the buoy was). Reefcast was almost on the nose. A little sloppy from 14 miles to 16 miles, but when we anchored, never had to move. Fish everywhere.

like I said…40’ bote! A 35’ Contender is a lot of bote, that would not have been pleasant in a 23’-24’ center console. Maybe 20 years ago, but I notice as I get older, I don’t like the ruff stuff anymore. Glad you got out, but BSB’s are not worth the effort.

i use to say that too,but its all we have left this winter:frowning_face:

i see yall been talking while i was gone.
the spot we fished is usually good for snapper and some grouper plenty of triggers and blackfish , the blackfish were so thick the bait wouldn’t even get near the bottom at times.
we didn’t intend on only catching blackfish but sometimes it happens. they sure eat good.

Same thing happened to me last week. In 80’ over bottom that normally produces ARS and Scamp, but blackfish were so thick nothing else had a chance at our bait. There were 2 of us in the boat and we limited out on blackfish and pinks in 1 hour. All blackfish kept were over 14", threw all the 12" and 13" fish back. Headed out to 110’ to catch a limit of ARS. You are right, though, blackfish are fantastic tablefare!

paul…will have to argue with you on that…bsb are one of my favorite and not everyone can run to the deep water…well maybe we could but dont take that chance just for a fish …so dont knock down us little guys:wink:…I love catching bsb or anything else…fishing is fishing…
