What a fantastic day on the water. Had my 6, almost 7 in 2 weeks, year old son offshore for the first time. What a blessing sharing what I grew up loving with my only son. Had my dad, buddy and his wife and 40inchreds on the boat today. We spent most the day in 75-90’ and tried some live bottom in 100’ to no avail as well as the pyramids at y-73 and only caught grunts. Ended up with a 6 man limit of big Beeliners, 16 or 17 BSB, couple pinkies, and a handful of white bone porgies. Caught a couple 20" inch BSB and a handful of 18" Beeliners. We probably threw back a few dozen legal Beeliners just looking for bigger ones. Flew in and out. Had a couple engine issues while out when the gas wasn’t venting and had to open gas cap to get fuel to motors. Sore, tired but super pumped to get my boy on the salt and he’s HOOKED!!!
nice job… crazy your having venting/fuel issues tho…
That’s what it’s all about, man! And I see the little one has already acquired excellent taste in his team of choice! The fish are just icing on the cake. Well done, sir.

New boat issues suck, but we all have them. I could not get a group together for a trip today but yesterday was very good. A little south of your destination. I am suprised you only got 39 mph at 5000 rpm with the 25 seahunt. I would expect closer to 48 mph. You will be finding new fishing spots very soon I’m sure. Public numbers can be fun but finding your own secret bottoms can really produce.
Olde Man Charters
Better get that I pilot, great for offshore bottom fishing! Nice pictures! Glad to see some one spending time with there son!

The 25 Gamefish is sitting over 7000lbs with full tank of fuel. Add bait, ice, gear and 6 people…I didn’t have it all trimmed up and tabbed out either but usually it’s 40/41 around that RPM. I get 35-37 a lot at 4500 RPM so it doesn’t get too much top end speed at the highest RPM. I think fastest I’ve had it is 44/45

He’s actually a Clemson fan due to friend/neighbor in his grade at school loves Clemson. I however will not allow Clemson anything in my house so he wears all Gamecock. He’s not big into the college sports yet although he generally goes to sleep watching ESPN or Monster Jam.

Thanks again for letting me go fishing with you on another great trip. Some things I will add to the report first his little man handle the drip like a man, second it was supper calm out with tons of bait busting on the way out of the buoys “made me wish I had a cast net” and lots of fish breaking the surface out in 90ish ft, some where schools and a few where solo. I site casted to a solo fish with a silver jig and and it hit and missed, hit and got on but jumped off quickly, then hit again but missed and was gone, when it jumped off it was slightly out the water and looked long and skinny from what I could tell. ? is there Kings still around out there because that’s possibly what it could of been or maybe just a deceiving angle on a little tunny. Later I sight casted to a school of fish breaking the water and caught a little tunny on the same silver jig. The first time I ever sight casted a fish offshore and the first time I caught a little tunny which for me was awesome.
Great to have you again Cory. You’re a top notch crew member and thanks for scrubbing the boat and getting soaked in the process on the way home. I felt bad for you as I know you had to be freezing going 39mph.

Those motors on that hull like to be trimmed up really high. Also, don’t go overboard on the tabs. Only a few clicks is all you need in most situations. I’ve had mine up to 50mph in the harbor and usually see 2.0mpg doing mid 30mph offshore. 2.2-2.4mpg doing a cruise on plane in the harbor with proper trim and tilt.

Angler’s Dream
The 150gal tank gives me a lot of comfort when sucking fuel in and out. I’ll be much more cautious come April when we start making longer runs. I’m so pumped for April to get here and get a chance @ trolling. I’ll definitely stay peeled on the sonar looking for live bottom around the ledge. Unfortunately I don’t have near the options as most on here for spots to hit when one is dead. A few here have been very gracious enough to give me some numbers and win exception to a few, most have produced very nicely.
