Bottom fish sunday 5-21

Held off the trolling and tried out some new bottom areas 100-110’. The AJs was fun and caught some nice silver snapper and those aggravating extinct RED snappers to release(what a waste of good meat} Some small grouper(one I’m not sure what type, see pic any ideas?) seen a lot of spadefish and cobia (extinct also) near one spot but we didn’t have any fresh shrimp/jellyballs. Ocean was awesome, ended day with 6 big AJs,5 red snapper, some silver snappers and 5 small grouper.:sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

and that looks like a calico grouper to me??

If I’m posting, its because I’m sitting here at work, dreaming about fishing.

Thanks for the help posting, I wasn’t sure how to do the pics, Also the information on the little grouper, we caught a couple of them very pretty colors with a mouth full of teeth!

It is called a Graysby, it does count against your grouper quota, and they are very good to eat. Most do not survive decompression so may as well keep them.

Not the same. Look at a Red hind, or rock hind
