I had the pleasure of fishing with an outstanding crew today on a beautiful ocean. A welcome treat in March to get a 70 degree day and we took full advantage of it. Stickman, Bonzo, and newcomer Tom were the crew that was after it today. We hit 100’ in no time on a chilly, but pretty smooth ride out in the Regulator. Stayed on top of the fish most of the day and kept what we could. Sadly we released grouper and snapper today, but we did mangage to get a nice box of fat seabass and trigger fish. Ole Bonzo was the trigger whisperer today. I think we caught almost every endangered red porgy in the ocean today, many times two at a time.
Seabass bite was good in 100’ as usual and we found some nice knotheads. Caught most triggers here in 100’ as well. Once we moved to 150’, we started seeing more sharks and the porgies were everywhere on the bottom. Water temp was 66.
Tom had the biggest fish of the day, a full grown shark that decided he didn’t like being boatside and proceeded to swim deep with authority and eventually wore through the 60lb leader.
It was a good day with great friends and skilled fisherman. Looking forward to the next trip and dragging some ballyhoo.

No, apparently they were feeding on them in 150’. That’s not the only one that was coughed up by a fish coming in the boat.

Good to meet you guys! I had a blast, enjoyed the fishing, company and the chicken. Looking forward to getting out there again soon!
FYI, I am coming down again this weekend. Anyone going out?
Fish is a 4-letter word…
As usual, my weekend plans have yet to be determined by my wife. Wait, does she have a moniker on this website?
What about the Flounder/ flatfish? Hit of the day in 150 '.
And I think the others that went back were lesser amberjacks, not banded rudderfish.
Thanks to all for making it a fun day.
Ricky, if I had known you were on that regulator, I would have come over and said Hi. We were on Quincy’s new boat (26 Sea Hunt)

Ha! Carl and I had that conversation about it being him but decided it wasn’t Quincy because the boat was too big! That’s funny.
