Bottom fishing on Sat w Y73 pics

Jordan with giant spade on spear

We fished in 100ft on Sat. We caught around 50-60 BSB and we kept 35. We caught and released several vermillions. We doved our live bottom and saw several large ARS and large gags. We doved the Y73. Vis was around 30 feet but was on the green side. Water temp was 56 degrees. The y73 was loaded with large gags, tons of spades and AJs.

Check out the school of gags on the perimeter

that’s awesome…us top-siders could never imagine what you guys see down there…thanks for sharing.

animal cruelty sucks…unless his lip hurts cause there is a 1/0 Owner Aki hook with a chinaback stuck in it

Sweet pictures. I had no idea the spades were so thick around the reefs this time of year. Always cool to see the pics from below!

Good pics, what kind of camera? I use a sealife digital with vedeo, good little unit for thye money. my son mounted his on his biller, awesome kill shots!

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

I have a Sealife 5.0 mega pixels land and sea camera. My battery died so I only got a few shots.

Thanks for the ride Greg. That was a fun day of diving and fishing. I never saw any lobsters on the ledge but it was neat seeing the group of undersized hog fish. I did stab about 6 lionfish with my gun but that didn’t even make an impact on how many I saw out there on the ledge. I also saw one fish that was strawberry red and had a huge eye for it’s size. Overall shape was sort of like an orange roughy but with a bigger eye. I didn’t shoot it because I didn’t know what it was. Anyone have any ideas?
My computer says that the deepest dive was 103’ with 56 degree water temp at the bottom.

EDIT:
After looking around I think it was an exceptionally large bigeye aka Toro.

Great pics and thanks for sharing. I fished on Friday and an underwater camera was lowered down just to check things out. Amazing at all the life and bottom! Again, thanks for sharing.

Yeah those underwater cameras are cool. We drop one down sometimes to determine if the visibility is worth diving.

Gregg, I had a great time as always. Stop by in-laws & gave them a few, they were glad to see them. Going to practice my release into grease tonight. We had a great crew Mac, Jordan, Chris, John the Ranger, who I forgot to thank for keeping us safe & defending our freedom THANKS!! Toast to Smooth seas, BSBs & good friends.

Roger to smooth seas, good friends, and Sea Bass Robert. I had a great time, especially helping Greg captain. I didn’t kmow Jordan was the same Jordan on a yak, cool dude. That guy has some stories man, you other cpts. should invite Jordan sometime, but be prepared, he LOVES to dive. Hey, Greg; you or somebody should tell the guys on the site how the Groupers were NOT spear gun shy for the first time ever since they “KNOW” they are now protected, what a story!!!Thanks again, Greg lol…
